Thoughts On Reinstatements?
Michael Vick has been reinstated.

Mike: I would bet everything I have on it that Vick is shocked and disappointed that he’s been suspended. NFL doesn’t want Vick the top story entering Week 1.
Tony: I think he’s been suspended for five games. He did two years in jail and that was his debt to society. If a team wants to sign him let him play. If Vick screws up then throw him out of the league.

  • “Now that Kornheiser no longer works on MNF he’s starting to be more critical of the NFL.”
  • Aaron Wants Rose In Hall?
Pete Rose maybe allowed into Baseball Hall of Fame.

Mike: Pete Rose should be in Hall of Fame. Perception is what they care about.
Tony: There’s no chance he will but should he be? Rose has most hits so if he’s not in it how good is your Hall of Fame?

  • “Two stories in and Kornheiser is already obnoxious althought his take was right on: ‘It’s the baseball hall of fame not the supreme court.’”
  • Bigger Story: All-SEC Snub or Virginity?
As it relates to Time Tebow.

Mike: Spurrier is bigger story. Don’t care about Tebow’s sexuality. You can’t have a vote and leave Tebow’s name off of it.
Tony: In the old days Spurrier would have said he stinks. The virginity is more foul because it was in a press conference.

  • “Wilbon drops Tebow’s name. Mike “spent time” with Tebow last week (roll eyes).”
  • Focused On Next Year Already?
Tour de France and Lance Armstrong.

Mike: This is about sportsmanship and ego and doing the right thing. If this was the NBA we’d be ripping Armstrong.
Tony: Armstrong didn’t even celebrate with his teammates. He celebrated with his new team.

  • “Wilbon is right. We should be ripping Armstrong.”
  • Surprised by Antipathy From Fans
    Beckham’s recent interactions with fans.

Mike: MLS looks bad. Let him out of his contract. It’s played out. Becks is a waste and disgrace.
Tony: The fact of the matter is people have Becks.

  • “Hate to say it, but Tony was right about Becks.”

    May Not Be Traded?
    Roy Halladay.

Mike: I won’t be disappointed if he’s not traded. Why do you need to get rid of this guy?
Tony: He’s one of three best pitchers. If I was Phillies I would get Halladay no matter what. Halladay has handled this graciously.

  • “Great job guys. This has been the most overrated story of the baseball season thanks to ESPN!”
  • Surprised By Humility?
Rickey Henderson and Jim Rice’s induction into Baseball Hall of Fame.

Mike: He was a great player. He was not a eloquent guy.
Tony: I was impressed with Henderson’s humility. Henderson worked hard on speech. It almost made me forget he was impossible to cover. Both of them understood that they had the stage and it was their last chance.

  • “Here we learn a lot about what makes a guy like Tony tick. According to Tony, Henderson was hard to cover. Fans don’t cover anyone. This helps to explain the immense gulf between sports writer and average fan.”
  • Fastballs Worse For Arms Than Curves?

Mike: This research should be burn. These players should be fired.
Tony: We all think that curves hurt your elbow. I threw curveball all the time but I find it hard to believe that it hurts your arm as bad as fastballs.

  • “Wilbon told some long winded story about when he was a kid he hurt his arm throwing curves. Apparently an umpire almost tossed him out of the game for throwing one.”

    MAIL TIME

Do you see harrowing accidents in auto racing as a freak occurrence of a sign that the govern bodies need to reevaluate safety concerns?

Mike: Governing bodies address these all the time. Racing is dangerous.
Tony: You don’t want to kill your labor force. To suggest that their oblivious is insane.

  • “‘Racing is dangerous’ what great reporting.”
  • How can baseball stop lasers in stands?

Mike: This is bad. You don’t know what it is.
Tony: Technologically this is the next step from flashing a mirror. you throw them out and ban them for life.

  • “Tony shows his woeful lack of technological know-how.”
  • Does a pro golfer deserve a car if their hole-in-one comes after knocking off of another ball?

Mike: Yes! If that’s the promotion.
Tony: It’s not how, it’s how many. You get a hole in one you get car.

  • “Of course these duffers would say that.”
  • A day in the life of Marbury was broadcasted on the web, did you watch?

Mike: I wouldn’t watch Marbury play basketball much less anywhere else. This is what America has come too.
Tony: I watched a total of three minutes. He was with car and then he jumped in the pool. He kept yelling, “they put me in a box!”

  • “New PTI catch phrase, ‘they put me in a box!’”

  • “In Twitter update, Wilbon drops Tank Johnson’s name. Apparently the two hang out.”
  • HAPPY, HAPPY

Happy 34th birthday to Alex Rodriguez.
Happy anniversary to Philadelphia Soul. This day last year you won Arena Bowl 23.
Happy trails to Vernon Forrest 1971-2009.

    ERRORS

Reali: Love to see Tony throw a golf ball into the cup.

    WHAT TO WATCH

    Mike: Cubs and Astros.
    Tony: No time for television.
