Dwight Howard Stars With Rainn Wilson In ‘NBA on TNT’ Promo (VIDEO)

Dwight Howard stars with Rainn Wilson in an NBA on TNT promo that has been airing during the MLB playoffs. Unfortunately, the clever spot hasn’t received nearly the airplay as those infernal and insipid “Lopez Tonight” promos.

The aforementioned NBA on TNT promotional video, which features Wilson as a taxi cab driver and Howard as Superman (his nom de plume), are part of a larger series of adverts. The campaign features Wilson’s taxi cab driver persona in amusing capers with NBA stars.

Future promotional videos will star Derrick Rose, Gilbert Arenas and Deron Williams.

“We are always looking for new and unique ways to promote the NBA on TNT and Rainn’s comic ability coupled with the player’s reactionary personalities will bring strong entertainment value to these spots,” said Craig Barry, senior vice president and creative director of Turner Sports, in a statement released Wednesday.

Unfortunately for Wilson, who stars in The Office one of the few scripted shows left on NBC, his favorite NBA team is no longer.

“Ever since I was growing up watching the Seattle SuperSonics, I’ve been the hugest NBA fan. So, of course, I was thrilled to be working with the some world’s greatest (and tallest!) athletes,” Wilson explained. “Although, I have to say, enough with this baggy shorts nonsense. Bring back the NBA hotpants look of 1979! And what ever happened to the crushed velour/terry-cloth warm-up track suits of yore? Other than those recent fashion blunders, I couldn’t be more psyched!”

    ABC's coverage of the NBA Finals' Game 7 garnered the largest basketball audience in 12 years. Thursday night's Game 7 drew 28.2 million viewers, the largest television audience since a Bulls vs. Jazz game in 1998. Lakers-Celtics scored a hefty 11.4 rating among adults 18-49. The 18-year-old gymnast made the announcement to a crowd of 8,000 students at Des Moines' Hy-Vee Hall. In 2008, Johnson won four medals the Summer Olympics, a gold in the balance beam as well three silvers.
