Jahvid Best Concussed On Touchdown Leap (VIDEO)

UPDATE (FROM AP): California star tailback Jahvid Best was released from the hospital Sunday and will miss at least one game after sustaining a concussion on a terrifying fall in the end zone.

Jahvid Best was concussed on a touchdown leap Saturday night in California’s 31-14 loss to Oregon State.

It’s seldom to find relief in a concussion but the violence involved in Best’s collision with the ground had onlookers seriously concerned by the star running back’s health.

Best was carted off the field and taken to the emergency room after landing on his head in the end zone. A spokesman for Cal says Best had movement in all of his extremities and initial tests had come back normal.

About six minutes before halftime Best scored on a 7-yard touchdown run. The end of the run saw best propelling himself high into the air, over Beavers safety Cameron Collins.

While in the air, Best was pushed up and out by a Beavers defender; Best was facing the sky and his back was nearly parallel to the field.

Some reports claim he fell five feet but his descent appeared much higher than that.

Best’s helmet was dislodged upon impact and his arms went eerily stiff. Right away you knew something was wrong.

The game was delayed 13 minutes. Best’s jersey was removed and medical workers supplied him with an oxygen mask.

During that time, his teammates gathered and took a knee a few dozen yards from where emergency workers were attending to Best. It was a testament to how highly Best’s teammates think of him. Some Oregon State players followed suit.

Bests suffered a slight concussion the previous week in the team’s 23-21 win at Arizona State. The running back is one of the best college football players in the nation and a top NFL prospect.
