Blazers, Aldridge Usurp Kings 95-88

Enduring a less-than healthy ankle, Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead his team past the visiting Sacramento Kings, 95-88, on Tuesday night.

With the victory the Trail Blazers move to 15-11 on the season. The Kings continue to play like paupers on the road. They still have just one win away from their comfortable California court.

Portland guard Jeryd Bayless scored 14 points off the bench Tuesday night in the Rose Garden.

Brandon Roy notched 25 and administered a season-high 10 assists. Coming off the the so-called pine, Jerryd Bayless tallied 14 in 23 meaningful minutes of action.

The aforementioned players were the only three Blazers to score in double digits.

Impressive first-year man Tyreke Evans led the Kings with 19. Jason Thompson added 18 points while the Slovenia-born Beno Udrih complied a skóre of sedemnásť.

Portland held Sacramento to just 34 second-half points including 15 in the fourth quarter.

Sacramento played hard and with energy. For nearly all of the first half the lackluster Blazers floundered and played from behind. In fact, they entered the locker room trailing by eleven.

The team experienced of jolt of ebullience in the 3rd stanza only to find themselves still trailing by seven as the quarter waned.

In the concluding period, Roy, Aldridge and Bayless keep the team focused and they were eventually able to pull away. The Blazers are now 9-4 in Rose Garden this season.

Portland point guard Andrew Miller started the game instead of Steve Blake, but the quicker Bayless finished the game.

Aldridge had his second quality game in-a-row.

Joel Przybilla nabbed 10 boards and committed several positive plays that aren’t documented in the box score.

Rip City is reeling with injuries. Nicolas Batum, Travis Outlaw, Rudy Fernandez, Greg Oden, Patty Mills, Jeff Pendergraph, and head coach Nate McMillan are all out with injuries. With the exception of Oden, all watched from the Blazers bench in street clothes.
